The Modern CAD Platform

Bring your own AI. We'll teach it how your business works.

Connect your preferred AI to Autodesk Inventor and Vault, then give it the engineering knowledge, standards and workflows that make your business unique. The Modern CAD Platform turns generic AI into an engineering assistant that understands your way of working. It's built, proven and ready to deploy.

How the platform works

Three parts. Your AI at the centre, our connections to Autodesk software, and your engineering knowledge guiding every action.

1 · The centre

Your AI session

You bring your own AI – Claude or the provider you already trust, on your own subscription. You talk to it in plain English. The platform doesn't replace it; it makes it useful inside your engineering software.

2 · The bridges

Our MCP servers connect it to the software

Each product exposes its software to AI through an MCP server – not a thin wrapper around the API, but commands built workflow-first, designed to work inside an AI session. Simple, effective moves that match how the real work runs. This is what makes Inventor and Vault fully AI-compatible.

3 · The knowledge

ModernCAD Memory tells it what right looks like

Before the session acts, it asks the knowledge layer how this work is done here – which template, which checks, which steps in which order. Memory answers with the right context, so the session gets it right the first time instead of guessing.

MCP icon

What's MCP? MCP – the Model Context Protocol – is the open standard that lets AI talk to other software. An MCP server converts a program's commands into actions your AI session can use, no coding needed. The AI-enabled products in the diagram below are marked with this icon.

ModernCAD Memory
Your engineering knowledge – standards, lessons, proven recipes.

Autodesk Inventor
Inventor AI
AI drives Autodesk Inventor – modelling, drawings, design checks.
Design Gear
Automates Inventor models into sellable product configurations.

Autodesk Vault
Vault AI
AI runs your Vault – search, workflows and housekeeping.
Turbo Loader
Brings your legacy design data into Vault, AI-guided.

A single conversation can design a part in Inventor, populate its properties, check it into Vault and route the change order. Design work and data management happen together. Every completed task adds to ModernCAD Memory, so your AI becomes more useful over time.

Frequently asked questions

An AI client that speaks the open MCP standard – Claude Desktop is the one most of our users run – on your own subscription or API key, plus the Autodesk software you already own. Our bridges and the knowledge layer do the rest.
MCP – the Model Context Protocol – is the open standard AI clients use to operate other software. An MCP server exposes a program's capabilities to your AI session. Every product on the platform ships as one: Inventor AI is the MCP server for Autodesk Inventor, Vault AI is the MCP server for Autodesk Vault, and the same architecture runs across the rest of our products.
ModernCAD Memory runs as our service: a private, isolated database for your company – nobody but you has access to it, and you can export the lot whenever you want. Your designs stay on your machine; only your words go to the AI – your choice of provider, on your own subscription or API key. In special circumstances we can license Memory to run on-premises, on your own server.
No – and you shouldn't. Every product installs alone and earns its keep alone. Connecting them is one setting, not a re-platforming project. Start with the one that hurts most; the platform is the reason that purchase keeps getting more valuable.
That's exactly what the knowledge layer is for. A generic session guesses; a guided session retrieves how your shop does the work before it acts, and destructive operations always require explicit confirmation. The tools also check their own output – screenshots after every Inventor feature, gated deletes in Vault.
No. ModernCAD Memory is a private, isolated database that only your company can access – AI sessions read from it and write to it, with trust grades and human review. It's not training data, and it never leaves your control.
That's the question the whole thing answers. Their conventions, checks and design decisions live in the knowledge base with a review trail – not in one person's head. What the business learned stays learned.
